Hands up for Trad, in association with BBC Scotland Celtic Roots, will be hosting the fourth Scots Trad Music Awards weekend in Fort William from the 1st - 3rd December, 2006. The aim of these Awards is to highlight Scotland's wonderful traditional music in all its forms and to create a high profile opportunity which will bring the music and music industry into the spotlight of media & public attention. This is the fourth year of the event, the first to take place in the Highland Region.

Joe Aitken
Joe is one of the finest exponents of north-east bothy style singing. He is a haulage contractor from Kirriemuir, one-time berry farmer and a favourite singer at festivals throughout Scotland from Auchtermuchty to Keith and, of course, his own local Kirriemuir Festival. In January 2004 he was winner of the Champion of Champions Bothy Ballad competition in Elgin. Tom Spiers
Aberdeen-born Tom sings and plays fiddle with group Shepheard, Spears & Watson and was at one time a member of the Gaugers a folk group which specialised in songs from North East Scotland. In 2001 Tom was invited to record a solo CD Allan Water - on The Tradition Bearers label, and thereafter to perform in clubs, concerts and festivals in the UK and USA. Shepheard, Spiers & Watson
Peter Shepheard, Tom Spiers & Arthur Watson have been active performers, collectors and organisers since the 1960s and are enthusiasts for the Scottish folk tradition. They bring together a wealth of song in a repertoire gleaned predominantly from many traditional singers they have known. Simple, powerful and effective fiddle, whistle and melodeon underscore three big voices as they revel in a colourful, broad sweep of Scots song. Inductees 2006: Awarded to musicians/ singers who have been in the industry over 30 years who have altered our musical landscape for the better including musicians, now no longer with us. (The Hall of Fame awards are not for voting). We are very proud to say that several of these notable singers and musicians have recorded for Springthyme:
