Jim Reid & John Huband - Freewheeling Now
A song Jim wrote shortly before recording the album. Says Jim, 'That's me - or am I kidding myself?'
1: I'm getting ower the hill it seems,
Tho ma hert it still feels young,
But to say when half a hunders here,
Your flings should aa be flung.
2: But I've some flungs I've yet tae fling,
Before I end ma days;
So I don't want tae hear ye say,
That old 'ye're past it' phrase.
Chorus:
Freewhelin now, freewheelin now,
It's easier every day;
Just tak it slow whene'er ye go,
Freewheelin doon the brae.
3: I canna climb the highest hills,
I used tae dae sae weel;
But the view is bonnie even frae here,
And ye're just as high as ye feel.
4: Ma eyesight's growin dimmer now,
And specs I ought tae wear;
But there's some things I see clearer still,
And I canna ask for mair.
5: I ken a man that's full o fun,
He fairly maks ye laugh;
Wi jokes aboot his new wheel chair,
He's baith his legs taen aff.
6: We've aa tae go a different road,
It could get hard sometimes;
So let's just try tae help oor neighbours,
Tae get ower the stiffest climbs.
Chorus:
Freewheelin now, freewheelin now,
It's easier every day;
Just tak it slow whene'er ye go,
Freewheeling doon the brae.
half a hunder - fifty years
