Jane Turriff - Singin is Ma Life

Sung by Jane Turriff:

"Ma Dad liked to hear ma singin this een." As I played her recording of this song for Jane, she sang along and drew attention to her different style of singing for this type of song: "I'm greetin, I am." Jane learned this song from a girl at the Linn Moor home in Aberdeen.

The Ring Your Mother Wore

1: For it's a ring your mother wore,
In the day she took my name;
It's just a plain gold band,
That I placed on her hand
An it's as welcome as whit you became.

2: And now our joy is at an end,
And I’m so glad that you have came,
An it may bring you joy,
To you and your boy,
As it brought to my mother and me.
